EMT Course Details

The EMT curriculum consist of four parts.  You must successfully complete all four to be eligible to take the national certifying exam (NREMT) and become licensed as an EMT in Louisiana.

  • Didactic:  Hours of lectures and interactive assignments in which you will learn fundamentals of emergency medicine and the care and transportation of patients.

  • Skills:  80 hours of hands-on skills instruction during which ACE4EMS clinical instructors will train you and your classmates in performing the specific tasks in the EMT's scope of practice.

  • Exams:  After completion both didactic and skills instruction, you will take a final written exam and a final skills exam.

  • Clinical Opportunities: During the course, you will schedule four (4) 12-hour shifts with a local ambulance company during which you must complete 10 contacts with actual patients.
